A MAN charged with murder following an alleged incident at a home in Barrow will appear at crown court on Monday.

William Prince is said to have committed the act on March 17 on Abbey Road.

Barrow man Stephen Anderson stole food from Co-op, court told

A GROUNDWORKER under financial pressure to repay funds to family and friends stole more than £350 worth of food from a convenience store in Barrow, a court heard.

Stephen Anderson, of Broad Close in Barrow, was identified by police from CCTV footage after staff at Co-Op on Abbey Road noticed a ‘substantial amount’ of stock had gone missing.

Keanu Logan stole washing products from Home Bargains in Barrow

A THIEF has been sentenced after he stole over £50 worth of washing products from a discount shop in Barrow.

Keanu Logan pleaded guilty to stealing 14 items from Home Bargains on Dalton Road when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on April 3.

Barrow dad held knife to son's throat asking 'do you want to die?'

A FATHER from Barrow held a knife to his son's throat as he was getting ready for school, a court heard.

Prosecutor Peter Kelly said the man, in his 30s, who cannot be named for legal reasons, entered his son’s bedroom with a Stanley knife.

Fraser Broadhead acquitted of rape and other sexual assault charges

A JURY took two and a half hours to acquit a man accused of rape and three other sexual assault charges.

Fraser Broadhead was on trial at Preston Crown Court in March this year alleged to have raped a female aged 16 or over in 2021.

David Lewis bit landlord of Ulverston's Piel Castle

A PUB-GOER who bit a landlord's arm after being told to leave has been jailed.

David Lewis sunk his teeth into the arm of Ulverston pub landlord Ben Jones after the defendant was told he was banned from the premises.

Three men go on trial accused of supplying Class A drugs in Barrow

THREE men have gone on trial over their alleged involvement in a county lines drug operation to supply Class A drugs between Manchester and Barrow.

Latham Burke, 49, Sheldon McDuffus, 26 and Stephen Payne, 54, are each facing two counts of conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

Jordan Clarke squeezed Barrow supermarket worker's bum

A DRUNK man reduced a female supermarket shop worker to tears after he sexually assaulted her, a court heard.

Jordan Clarke, 29, squeezed the woman’s bottom twice at a store in Barrow, prosecutor Kristian Cavanagh said.

Anthony John Pickering convicted by jury at Carlisle Crown Court

A PAEDOPHILE former football coach already serving a life prison sentence for sexually abusing junior players has been convicted of molesting another youngster.

Anthony John Pickering, a 62-year-old ex-Army serviceman, was first handed a five-year jail term in 2018 after being found guilty of vile crimes committed against seven youngsters during the 1970s.

‘Barrow has a major problem with drugs’, says officer in ongoing trial

“BARROW has a major problem with drugs, especially in county lines cases.”

That’s the view of Detective Constable Graham Benson, of Cumbria Police’s Community Serious Organised Crime Unit.

Ulverston's Piel Castle pub landlord reacts as man who bit him jailed

A PUB landlord has reacted after a man who bit him was jailed over a 'disgusting' incident.

David Lewis assaulted landlord Ben Jones and abused customers at the Piel Castle in Ulverston in what the pub boss described as a 'highly unpleasant incident’.

Heroin and cocaine dealer to spend longer in prison

A JAILED heroin and cocaine dealer who ran a 'ring and bring' county lines drugs operation from his home has had extra time added to an existing prison sentence.

Bradford Crown Court heard that 23-year-old Asim Hussain was already serving eight years in HMP Leeds for selling drugs between Bradford and Barrow.

Adam Stewart from Milnthorpe jailed for multiple child sex offences

THIS is the face of a man who has been jailed for multiple child sex offences.

Adam Stewart was sentenced for attempting to cause a child under 13 to look at an image of sexual activity and for attempting to cause a child aged between 13-15 to look at an image of sexual activity between May 30 2023 and February 8 2024 in Milnthorpe.

Lee Lancaster stamped on man’s head in Theatre Bar, Barrow

A BUSINESS owner launched an unprovoked attack on a man in a nightclub in what a judge described as ‘a moment of complete madness fuelled by alcohol’.

Lee Lancaster, 36, left his victim with a ‘grave injury’ after he broke his left ankle by pushing him to the floor and stamping on his head, prosecutor Richard Howarth said.

Leigh Bond jailed for playing loud music in Barrow neighbour dispute

A NUISANCE neighbour who played music too loudly at night has been jailed.

Leigh Bond, 38, was subject to a restraining order which included preventing him from being able to play music from his home on Redshaw Avenue in Barrow between 8pm and 7am, prosecutor Rachael Woods said.
