The owners of a popular bar in Barrow have announced they will be stepping down later this year.

Tailors Bar and Lounge has been operating since October 2018 with the owners revealing their plans on Sunday.

The business started as the brainchild of two families from Barrow and the bar has been a hit with locals for over five years from its home on Dalton Road.

The owners said: "On a night out in Barrow in August 2017, we had a casual conversation on how we would like to open a bar, we then walked past an empty Greenwoods store and the rest as you could say is history.

"After much consideration we have come to the decision that the time for us to step back from Tailors has now arrived."

They will be leaving the role in April with their current supervisor set to earn himself a promotion.

"When opening Tailors, our aim was to offer a different experience and an environment where everybody felt welcome," they explained.

"We like to think we’ve achieved that but we also knew as a group that we couldn’t do it forever."

The owners described how they had approached the decision with a mixture of 'pride, sadness and excitement'.

"We are proud of what we’ve achieved with Tailors - we’ve had our challenges since opening in October 2018, but we’ve also had plenty of great times which far outweigh those.

"We’ve made some fantastic memories in the bar and some new friends too."

The current management team thanked the local community for the support they have been shown since opening.

"We've certainly been embraced and felt the love from our little town and we hope that this will continue for Josh [the new owner].

"Our last weekend of trading will be Easter weekend and we’re currently in the process of planning the celebrations so we hope you will join us."
