THE history, scenic value and natural treasures of the islands which lie off the Barrow coast will feature in the next meeting of the Furness Family History Society.
Guest speaker will be John Murphy, from Walney, who will be talking about The Islands of Barrow.
The meeting is from 7.30pm on Monday, May 13, at the Barrow Island Primary School.
Admission is £2, including refreshments and all are welcome.
Walney with its 110-year-old bridge is the best known and was the site for Vickerstown — an industrial community of housing for shipyard workers.
