THE nimble-fingered members of the Furness Spinners, Weavers and Dyers group put their skills on show at a weekend craft workshop back in 1999.

The Mail, on Wednesday, October 27, noted: "The group, which holds its meetings in St Jude's Church Hall, South Ulverston, often has a guest who gives demonstrations of a particular craft or skill.

"But this month, members took the opportunity to carry on with their own pieces of work which they started earlier in the year."

Group chairman Anthea Jones, from Ulpha, said: "Two members did some spinning on traditional spinning wheels — one was spinning mohair and another spun some wool.

"Others spent the day making articles from hand-spun yarn, including crocheting and knitting."

The group drew members from across South Cumbria, including Bouth, Allithwaite, Ulverston, Walney, Dalton and Ireleth.
