THE preparations were far from smooth in 1998 when Walney Juniors' presented Alice in Wonderland.
The planned dress rehearsal at Forum 28 was cut short by afternoon power cuts which prevented stage hands from erecting the scenery.
Star of the show, Amy Larcombe, who played Alice, was among those who studied her script by torchlight.
Also in the show was Vicky Serra as Doormouse, Louise Maalawy as Mad Hatter and Victoria George as the March Hare.
The huge cast also featured David Rigg and Humpty Dumpty, Janine Postlethwaite as the Red Queen and Ailsa McIntosh as the White Queen. Daniel McKeating played the White Knight.
The Mail, on October 15, noted that the musical version of the Lewis Carroll story was a great success despite the power cut.
It noted: "The colourful show features all the strange characters from the stories."
The show was directed by Claire Rigg. Choreography was by Saxon Winship with Paul Bryden as musical director.
