TRAVEL in Barrow by bus and tram featured in a talk and displays in Barrow library.
Geoff Holme gave a presentation called 130 Plus Years on Wheels and was supported by a table-top show of photographs, plans and ledgers put together by Barrow archivist Susan Benson.
There was also a display stand from the Barrow Transport Group which has a fleet of Barrow-related public service vehicles in road use, or at various stages of restoration.
Mr Holme said Barrow's first steam tram ran on July 11 in 1885 and the last electric tram ride was on April 5 in 1932.
Until 1986 Barrow Corporation Transport was the leading bus operator in the town but at one time up to 60 firms had offered services between Barrow and Ulverston — such as the Lonsdale Pullman bus Company.
