THE dramatic transformation of fields beside the Duddon Estuary into a new industrial town will feature at a Barrow talk.
Stephe Cove will give a presentation on Millom, the Growth of a Victorian Town from 7.30pm on Monday, November 5.
His talk is part of the winter programme of the Furness Family History Society and is being held at Barrow Island Community Primary School CDC on Trinity Street, Barrow Island.
Millom saw a massive building boom of shops, houses and public facilities from the middle of the 19th century as new families arrived in search of work at Hodbarrow iron ore mines and at Millom Ironworks.
