A carnival-style celebration was held to mark the 120th anniversary of education at the Duke Street site of Alfred Barrow School in Barrow. There were more than 200 visitors, including many former pupils.

A casino night was to be held at the Wellington Pub, in Market Street, Dalton, to raise money for Duddon Cricket Club.

A semi-detached house at Birchwood Drive, Ulverston, was offered for sale at £1750,000. A terrace house at Queen Street, Dalton, was £82,000.

More than £1,400 was raised in a single night for the Breast Care Fund at Barrow’s Furness General Hospital from a charity auction held at the Farmers Arms in Baycliff.
