A gold arrow award went to Cub David Pearcy, of the St Perrans pack. The 10-year-old, from Yarlside Road, Barrow, received his badge from assistant district commissioner Miss J. Cathcart.
South Cumberland Water Board was considering bids for the demolition of the Anglers Hotel on the shores of Ennerdale Water.
A presentation was made to George Leake, of Middlefield, Barrow, on his retirement from the North-Western Gas Board after 30 years as a meter payment collector.
