Circular 1 seeks administration 'as soon as possible'

A healthcare company that had failed to pay staff for two months is now seeking administration.

An internal email sent to Me and My Health staff, based at Harding Rise in Barrow, by chief executive officer Stuart MacLennan, said the directors of the company had 'sought professional advice and have concluded that the company is insolvent.

Future of Barrow shipyard reportedly secured with Aukus subs plan

The long-term future of the Barrow shipyard may be secured following reports the UK has succeeded in its bid to sell nuclear submarines to Australia.

The Aukus agreement between Australia, United Kingdom and United States is a commitment to share expertise and skills to develop Australia's nuclear fleet.

This could include Australia commissioning submarines from BAE in the future.

Rat infestation at Barrow McDonald's caught on camera

An infestation of rats outside a fast food restaurant in Barrow has been caught on camera.

The rodent invasion near the McDonald’s in Hollywood Park was filmed by one customer who used the restaurant’s drive-thru on Saturday evening.

Deli.sh in Barrow given one-out-of-five food hygiene rating

Takeaway bosses were told to make dozens of immediate improvements after being handed a one-out-of-five rating food hygiene rating.

Deli.sh, on Crellin Street in Barrow, was given the score after assessment on January 25.

According to the report, obtained by The Mail under freedom of information laws, 39 concerns were raised to the business needing action in a week.

Fears Dreadnought delays placing 'increasing strain' on submarines

Lord Walney has raised concerns over delays to the next generation of Trident submarines being built in Barrow.

John Woodcock, who previously served as the MP for Furness, questioned the Government over the 'increasing strain' being placed on the current generation of Vanguard class boats that form the UK's at-sea nuclear deterrent.

Family start funeral fund after daughter dies without life insurance

The family of a young mum who died from diabetes complications wants to give her a proper send-off.

Carrie Ann Speed, who grew up on Walney, died aged 34 from kidney failure as a result of her type-one diabetes without any life insurance.

The family has set up a gofundme to raise £1,000 towards her cremation costs.

Teenager suffers 'serious injuries' in A590 crash at Askam roundabout

A teenager suffered serious injuries in a crash that saw a vehicle leave the road at a roundabout.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the one-vehicle collision that happened on the A590.

A car, a Volkswagen Polo, had left the road at the Askam roundabout.

The incident was reported to police at 10.17pm last Friday night (March 3).

Woman, 29, pleads guilty to running Carlisle brothel

A woman has appeared in front of a judge and admitted sex trafficking crimes having run a Carlisle brothel.

When 29-year-old Ana Stefan appeared the city’s crown court in January, she pleaded not guilty to three charges and her case was adjourned ahead of a trial.

But when Stefan returned to the court on Thursday the charges were put to her again and she entered three guilty pleas, putting forward a formal basis for her admissions.

Police investigate report of sexual assault in Ormsgill, Barrow

Detectives are investigating a report of sexual assault following an incident in Barrow.

Police received a report at 10.57pm on Friday March 3. The incident is reported to have occurred near to the junction of Mill Bank and Park Road, Barrow at around 6.30pm.

The victim, a woman aged in her 30s, is being supported by specialist officers.
