A TEENAGER suffered serious injuries in a crash that saw a vehicle leave the road at a roundabout.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the one-vehicle collision that happened on the A590.

A car, a Volkswagen Polo, had left the road at the Askam roundabout.

The incident was reported to police at 10.17pm on Friday night (March 3).

A man in his late teens is said to have 'serious injuries', described as 'not life threatening'.

The driver, also male, in his 20s, suffered from 'minor injuries'.

The collision led to a section of the road being closed for a number of hours leading to slow-moving traffic throughout the next morning.

Police said that they are keen to speak to members of the public who they believe were walking nearby at the time of the collision.

Investigations are ongoing.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "A Volkswagen Polo left the road at the Askam-in-Furness roundabout.

"Officers are particularly keen to speak to a number of people they believe were walking nearby at the time.

"Anyone with information should ring officers on 101."
