ASPIRING lanterneers in this year's Ulverston Lantern Festival still have the chance to showcase their creative talents at a series of workshops.

With only four days to go before the festival, time is running out for people to create their own one-of-a-kind lantern.

The festival theme this year is outer space, providing a whole galaxy's worth of inspiration.

The Lantern Festival's organising committee have said there are some fantastic lanterns under construction.

One such creation, a replica of the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek, will soon boldly go where no man has gone before, at least in Ulverston.

Lantern making kits are still available at Appleseeds, in Market Street, and the Laurel & Hardy Museum, in Brogden Street, costing £5 each.

The final few lantern making workshops will be held each night this week until Friday, running from 5.30pm until 8.30pm at the Parish Rooms, in Church Walk.

The Lantern Festival will take place on Saturday from 7.30pm onward.
