A MAN thought to be in his 60's has been admitted to Lancaster hospital after suffering with cardiac problems on top of a prominent hill near Grasmere in the Lake District.

Both the Great North Air Ambulance Service and the North West Air Ambulance Service were called at 2:30pm earlier today to assist a man who had been taken ill with cardiac injuries on top of Loughrigg Fell.

The patient was assessed on top of the hill by paramedics before being carried down to an ambulance by the mountain rescue team.

He has since been taken to hospital where his condition is stable.
