EMERGENCY services were called to Windermere last night after a newborn baby suffered a cardiac arrest.

The Great North Air Ambulance was called just after 6.30pm to assist the baby boy, who was just one month old.

On arrival, the aircrew doctor and paramedic team worked alongside North West Ambulance Service paramedics to assess and treat the child.

The mother and infant were then flown to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool in just 20 minutes while crew continued treatment.

The baby arrived in a stable condition but was deemed to have critical/life-threatening injuries.
