A NATIONAL retailer is understood to be set to take over an empty premises in Portland Walk in Barrow.
The Evening Mail understands the vacant shop in Portland Walk could soon be home to a high-end national retailer. More details are set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
The news follows a series of changes to the landscape of Barrow town centre.
Last week we revealed a food outlet was in talks with the owners of the former Lakes Bakery premises at the bottom end of Dalton Road.

Earlier this month, Store Twenty One by the Spirit of Barrow statue between Dalton Road and Portland Walk confirmed its impending closure.

Independent fashion chain Gees in Cavendish Street closed last weekend.

On a positive note, the owners of the Olympic Chippy building revealed that following the departure of their tenant, the takeaway would soon reopen following an extensive refurbishment.
