Three players from the Barrow Masters squad have been selected to represent Great Britain Down Under.
The trio of former Roose Pioneers players – Ian O’Neill, Shaun McPoland and Ian McAllister – will set off in November on the GB Masters tour to New Zealand and Australia.
Before the tour, the GB tourists will play a warm-up fixture against a Cumbrian select, which includes a strong Barrow contingent of Vic Logan, Neil Ward, Kevin Robinson, Rick Wilson and Stuart Knagg.
The next Masters fixture in Barrow will take place this Saturday, at Redwaters, when a Roose select will take on a team representing the former Holker Pioneers club in memory of Will Richardson (kick-off 2pm).
The ex-Holker Pioneers and Roose Pioneers and Barrow Masters player passed away last year. All ex-players from both clubs and any other masters players are asked to turn up for meet for registration at 12.30pm. The club is hoping for a fantastic day and a strong turnout to raise lots of money for Will’s family’s chosen charities.
