MILLOM pushed National Conference Division Three pacesetters Beverley all the way before losing 28-20.

The Yorkshire visitors raced out of the blocks early doors and found themselves 18-0 up after 20 minutes.

Tries came from Alex Calvert and two from Lewis Poskitt - one of them being a 90-yarder.

The visitors were showing why they are so strong this season under Hull FC and England International Scott Taylor.

However, Millom fought back and replied quickly with Jonathon Hodgson burrowing over the line from close-range. Lee Postlethwaite converted.

Millom were unfortunate when Ethan Kelly powered over the line, only to then knock-on as he went to ground the ball as the Beverley full-back managed to get his foot under the ball.

Postlethwaite closed the gap a little further before half-time when he slotted over a penalty goal from 30 metres out.

Millom failed to regain control at the start of the second and it cost them dearly when Billy Riby crossed off the back of some more Beverley dominance.

Lewis Straw edged them further ahead on the 60-minute mark when he scored a try and converted.

However, Millom used some never-say-die spirit to hit Beverley with two tries in five minutes.

Ethan Kelly finally got himself over for one when he powered his way over the whitewash. Postlethwaite converted.

Noah Robinson then scooted over from dummy-half for a converted try, but it was all too little too late.

Best for Millom was the evergreen player-coach Tom Sibley who kept his troops going all game, despite the end result and man of the match for Millom went to Ethan Kelly.
