The Under-13s contest pitted UVHS against sides from Dowdales, Walney and Chetwynde, with all four teams putting in some top displays.
The eight-a-side contests saw matches played inside the college’s Matchbox sports hall, with runs scored when batsmen hit the walls and the back wall considered the boundary.
Six bowlers delivered one over apiece and one sending down two. The wicketkeeper does not bowl.
Each school played the others in a round-robin group stage, before two semi-finals and a final decided the overall winners.
Cumbria Cricket’s area development officer Jake Woods was pleased with the standard of play on show during the tournament, which saw Ulverston edge out Chetwynde in the final.
“There was a lot of talent involved throughout the day,” he said.
“It was a good day and all the games were pretty tight.
“Walney were very unlucky, they lost the big moments against their opponents, which probably cost them games.
“Chetwynde were only just beaten in the final by Ulverston, it was all quite tight.
“Ulverston were deserved winners. They played well and they battled hard in the final to beat Chetwynde.”
