FURNESS Cricket Club table tennis junior Ben McDonald made a winning start to the season with Lancashire Cadets.
McDonald, the first player from the area to be picked for two Lancashire teams in the same season, travelled to Rugby for matches against Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Staffordshire and Leicestershire.
Along with team-mates Toby Ellis and Rhys Davies, he helped the county to four wins from four on the day.
McDonald claimed victory in seven of his eight singles matches as Lancashire beat Lincolnshire and Yorkshire both 9-1, Staffordshire 6-4 and Leicestershire 10-0.
Davies also triumphed in seven of his eight singles games, with Ellis taking six victories on a great day for the Red Rose side.
