A BATTLING display from Barrow Amateur Boxing Club's Tia Davies wasn't enough to earn her victory in the women's national novice championships semi-finals.
Davies lost her bout on points in Doncaster on Sunday, after previously winning the regional final and national pre-quarter-final at Irlam ABC.
Brook Street head coach Jeff Moses said: "Tia boxed very hard from start to finish. She gave her best but never got the result this time and came away with a bronze medal."
Fight fans will pack out The Nines next month for Barrow ABC’s annual charity bout and auction.
The sell-out 'Barrow ABC versus Cancer' show on Friday November 4 will see up to 15 junior and senior bouts take place, from rookies up to experienced campaigners, with the host club's boxers taking on opponents from across the region.
Special guest will be Barrow ABC product Liam Conroy, the WBC Youth Silver light-heavyweight champion.
Money raised from the show will help local ghood causes. Some of the proceeds will be split between Macmillan Cancer Support, St Mary's Hospice and Jo's Appeal and some funds will help local children with autism.
