A LATE Ian Swarbrick header saw Millom complete a comeback from 1-0 down to take all three points against Blackpool Wren Rovers reserves at Hannah Field.

Wren Rovers started brightly in the West Lancs Division Two match-up, and their young team soon got settled into the game and their direct approach with the wind at the back was working territorially without much goal threat.

Millom had the first real chance when Ben Macdonald released Danny Pattinson, who cut inside and curled a left-foot shot towards the top corner, but the keeper made an excellent save.

There were no more real chances in the half until right on the stroke of half-time.

Wren Rovers broke down the left flank and their number nine got to the by-line and put in a cross which deflected up off diving Millom goalkeeper Lee Hanna and evaded all of the players. Rovers’ Will Robinson was on hand two yards out to put the ball into an empty net.

Millom’s half-time team talk seemed to work and they should have been back on level terms when a short back-pass went straight to the prolific Carl Waters. Bearing down on goal, you would have expected the scores to be level, but the visiting keeper made a smart save with his legs.

With 15 minutes to go, Millom won a corner. Danny Pattinson swung it in and Jordan Williams lost his marker and powered a bullet header into the back of the net from 10 yards out.

Millom now sensed three points were there for the taking.

With only minutes on the clock, another Pattinson corner swung in towards Williams, who won his header and the ball looped into the six- yard box, where Swarbrick was on hand to head the ball past the keeper and players on the line to put Millom 2-1 ahead and give Wren Rovers no time to find an equaliser.

Elsewhere in the division, Walney Island avenged last week’s home defeat by Furness Rovers with a 2-1 victory against the same opponents.
