Next Saturday’s Northern League Division One home game against Fleetwood will double up as a celebration for the 90th anniversary of the club being based at Ernest Pass.
To mark the occasion, club officials are inviting former players to the match for a reunion.
Barrow’s association with the Ernest Pass Memorial Ground dates back to the the First World War, with the ground being bequeathed to the club by the family of the late Lieutenant Ernest Pass, who was killed in action on the Somme in 1917.
Club servant Ged Croskery explained: “The Pass family had this piece of land cleared and levelled and presented to Barrow CC in 1927 as a memorial to their son, and we have played there from that time, which is 90 years this year.
“We are hoping to get former (and even future) players up the club to celebrate this anniversary.”
The Barrow versus Fleetwood match starts at 1pm on Saturday, July 22, and food and refreshments will be provided for past players during and after the game. Anybody interested in attending should contact or leave a message with Ged Croskery on 07926 946217.
