Barrow AFC manager Ian Evatt felt his side were always in control at Bromley, after they recorded a 2-1 victory against the National League leaders to make it six wins in a row.

This is now the Bluebirds’ best-ever run at this level and they are very much starting to look like promotion contenders, with their performances now being converted into results.

Bromley were unbeaten at Hayes Lane this season prior to this match, but they were outplayed for the majority of proceedings, as goals from Dior Angus and Scott Quigley rewarded their dominance.

Although the Ravens pulled a goal back in the closing stages, there was no sign of nerves from AFC, who no longer look like the shaky outfit that opened the season by making individual errors and throwing away winning positions.

Evatt said: “That was an outstanding away performance. I thought we dominated possession, I thought we controlled it for long periods.

“We have to take great credit in that Bromley, who are top of the league and were unbeaten for so long, put ten or 11 men behind the ball at times.

“We’ve managed to dictate play, dictate possession, score at the right times and obviously they’re very dangerous from crosses.

“We worked that out pretty quickly that if they pick their heads up and pick out long passes then they can be a threat.

“The two times we allowed them to get their heads up and cross it unopposed, they hit the bar and scored, but other than that, I thought we defended magnificently and picked them off and attacked really well.

“We lacked a bit of game management at the end – we should have put it in the corners instead of shooting at times and still going for the kill, but these boys are fantastic and they deserve every bit of praise they’re going to get.”
