PAUL Cox expects Solihull Moors to provide a real test for his Barrow AFC side's unbeaten run.

The Bluebirds welcome Solihull to Holker Street on Saturday looking to make it 15 National League games without defeat – with four cup encounters adding to their streak without suffering a loss (3pm kick-off).

But Moors make the trip to Furness on the back of a midweek FA Cup success against League Two Yeovil Town and with new manager Liam McDonald looking to make an impact in the job.

It adds up to a tough day at the office for AFC, and Cox said: “You look at their two games against Yeovil, and they went down there and got an excellent draw, then took a very good side to extra-time in the replay and won it on penalties.

“Once again, we're expecting a really tough game. We've got a couple of home games to get our teeth stuck into, and fingers crossed we can get some good results.”

He added: “They've got some very good players. You look right through their squad, they have got a midfield full of good players, and it will be another tough game for us.”

Cox will have a reinforced squad for tomorrow's match, with only Byron Harrison (dead leg) and Paul Turnbull (calf) rated as 50/50 for the Moors match-up.

Both have been receiving treatment at training this week, with the hope they will come through late fitness tests.

Moussa Diarra is back from France after a family bereavement and Harry Panayiotou has returned from international duty with St Kitts and Nevis, who were beaten 2-0 by Haiti in their Caribbean Cup qualifier.

“Byron has responded to treatment very well, and so has Turnbull,” said Cox. “They're both 50/50 at the minute for the weekend with his calf, which he strained on the 3G last week in training.

“(Andy) Coughlin is improving as well. He trained on Thursday. He was strapped up on the bench on Tuesday night – both him and Turnbull weren't fit.

“Both those two are looking okay and Byron has responded well to treatment, so he may have a chance for Saturday.

“Moussa is back and has trained, which is nice. It appears there some sort of mix-up with his identity at security in the airport in Paris, but it was quickly sorted out.

“Harry is back from the Caribbean and has trained, which is another plus, and Dan Cockerline is available after missing Tuesday because he was cup-tied.”
