BARROW AFC have completed a deal for former Oldham Athletic and Morecambe striker Rhys Turner.

The 22-year-old has penned a one-year deal at Holker Street.

Turner featured for the Bluebirds in their opening pre-season match against Furness Select on Saturday, coming off the bench to replace the injured Jacob Blyth a few minutes in.

He played half-an-hour before the game was abandoned as Blyth received treatment from paramedics for injuries to his arm and shoulder.

Turner also started against Carlisle United on Tuesday.

The Lancashire-born player – who spent time in the youth ranks of Lancaster City and Preston North End – started his professional career with Stockport County, before having spells at Oldham Athletic and Morecambe.

He spent part of last season back on loan at Stockport in National League North.

The deal for Turner was completed following Barrow's 3-1 win over Carlisle.
