BARROW AFC’s Ben Whitfield says he can’t wait to get started having joined Boreham Wood on a short-term loan deal until mid-December.

Speaking to the Wood website, Whitfield said: “It’s great to be here. Speaking to the gaffer and having played against his teams, he’s someone I really want to work for.

“The intensity he works at is good for me as a player, can’t wait to work under him.”

Boreham Wood manager Luke Garrard commented: “Really happy to get Ben signed, he is someone that over the years of me being a manager he’s been a constant thorn in our side with his trickery and qualities in the final third of the pitch.

“He will add much needed competition on the top line and comes with a wealth of experience which will only aid us in the coming weeks.

“He has settled in already which is a great indicator to the group we have in the building and the buy in he’s already shown at such an early stage.

“I look forward to working with ‘whits’ and seeing him cultivate relationships in the coming days.”
