Rain caused four of the six games in the ICS Accounting League Division 1 to be abandoned without a result.
The exceptions were leaders Appleby Eden, who dismissed Coniston for 98, despite a first fifty of the season from Bob Simpson (55).
Appleby’s Australian Jack Sutton took a season’s best 6/19 and then made 49 as Appleby stumbled to a 3-wicket win with Robert Muir taking 4/19.
Morecambe 2nds lost at Settle with veteran John Tarbox taking 6/28 as they were bowled out for 84.
Shaun Airey’s 39 not out gave the hosts a valuable 7-wicket win.
Coniston are marooned at the bottom on 46 points, but only 9 points separate Ulverston in 11th from Holme in 8th.
Both these sides will feel the weather robbed them on Saturday.
Luke Clough (3/12) and Tharaka Adhikari (3/29) grabbed the wickets as Ulverston bowled out Warton for 74 with the Cumbrians on 21/0 when the rain arrived.
Matt Salisbury (40) and Robbie Tattersall (44 not out) took Sedgwick to 189/8 and Holme were 71/0 in the 13th over when play was terminated.
Mike Shepherd made 42 at Haverigg in Arnside’s 105/9 when the rain arrived.
Robbie Evans took 3/28.
Sam Woodburn (71 not out from 63 balls) made his first fifty for 3 years in Carnforth 2nds’ 156, Ed Waind taking 4/30 for Lindal Moor.
In Division 2A, leaders Vickerstown lost at home to Kendal 2nds when youngsters Tom Bentley (69) and Teddy Daly (47) led them to 288/8.
Vickerstown had a revised target of 204 from 26 overs, but only reached 114/9, Daly taking 5/41.
Hawcoat Park beat Cartmel by 2 wickets thanks to Dave Muncaster’s 91 from 81 balls and Elliott Maxfield (51) as they knocked off 199 despite the efforts of Robert Rhys, who on his birthday followed up his run-a-ball 52 with 3/34.
A remarkable game at Sedgwick House saw three centuries.
Mike Bracken’s 119 with support from Dan Noar (67) and James Bailey (54) saw Sedgwick 2nds post 290/4.
Paul Fugler (124) and Rob Fugler (118 not out) were unfazed, but Kirkby in Furness heartbreakingly finished 3 short of the target with nearly 600 runs scored for the loss of only 7 wickets.
Jon Mason (31), Rob Letcher (48), and Alfie Moffat (37 not out) helped Silverdale reach 195/7 against Shireshead 2nds, who made only 77 in reply, Mason taking 3/21 and Jon Mason 3/16.
Steve Bowman made 103 from 126 balls for Milnthorpe, who with Luke Troughton (47) making his highest score since joining from Kirkby Lonsdale, posted 220/4 against Ambleside and had no idea of the thrills ahead.
Rob Farrar’s 84 in his third innings for the club kept Ambleside in the game, but at 177/9 it seemed all over for the visitors.
It left 44 to win from 19 balls.
The next two overs saw Barney Wileman (15 not out) and Dan Southworth (26 not out) each strike a six from the last ball of the over to get the target to 14 from the last over.
A Southworth boundary and hard running meant 5 were needed from the last ball.
Dan couldn’t hit the maximum, but the ball went for four to seal a glorious tie.
Cricket the only winner.
With no play at Ingleton, Heysham 2nds went top again of 2B with a home win against Barrow 2nds.
Jamie Antcliffe (44) and Dan Curran (58) made runs at the top of the order, but it was Henry Cunningham (39 not out) and Joe Senior (54 not out) that took them to 229/5, Hassan Abdullah taking 3/42.
Barrow made 130/6 in reply.
Windermere beat Netherfield 3rds by 94 runs.
Ryan Griffiths (70) and Stuart Knox (48) set Furness 2nds on their way to 188/4 at Westgate 2nds, who with Steve Fisher (63 not out) and Phil Harvey (55 not out) cantered to a 9-wicket win on DLS.
Millom 2nds beat Morecambe 3rds by 3 runs.
Jake Rigby (3/33) and Joe Jackson (3/30) kept Millom to 123, Kyle Brockbank (34) top-scoring.
Morecambe seemed on track to win with Mark Routledge making 47 not out, but he received no support as Robbie Wilson took a WCL best 5/28.
Penrith 2nds’ position at the top of Division 3 seems unassailable, 18 points clear after a 9-wicket win against Ulverston 2nds.
Kyle Hinds made a brilliant 126 for Leven Valley as they beat Holme 2nds by 184 runs, pool player Matthew Bailey contributing with 55 and 5/11.
Julian Cann (48) top-scored for Kirkby Stephen, who lost by 7 wickets to Carnforth 3rds, Kieran Saunders making 52 and Ollie Dodds 37 not out.
Chris Beckwith made 70 for Appleby Eden 2nds and with Dan Thomson making 42 from 33 balls they scored 231/8, which was 100 runs too many for Burneside 2nds despite the efforts of Martin South (72).
Lennon Harrison took 4/19.
In Division 4, Galgate made it a perfect 10 out of 10 as Shadab Khan (5/12) and Salman Khan (3/33) bowled out Silverdale 2nds for 90 and Jake Gould’s unbeaten 41 completed a 9-wicket win.
Glyn Caine’s 52 for Lindal Moor 2nds couldn’t stop Bolton le Sands winning by 8 wickets with Mahfuzur Rahman taking 6/22 and Doug Bousefield 3/36 before Simon Brown (59 not out) and Tom Burke (46) combined.
Dalton 2nds skipper Corey Gilliland (75) led his side to 267/7 against Arnside 2nds.
Kieran Thomas took 4/40 but although Daniel Richardson made 51 the home side made 154/8, Keith Gilliland taking 4/27.
Haverigg 2nds beat Bare 2nds by 56 runs.
The first finals of the season take place at Dalton in Furness on Sunday.
At 12 noon in the Kendal Sports Trophies Final, last year’s runners-up Milnthorpe 2nds take on Warton 2nds.
At 4pm in the Westmorland Bathroom Trophy Final, Appleby Eden 2nds take on Trimpell.
In Division 5 there were wins for leaders Settle 3rds and for Kirkby Lonsdale, Shireshead & Forton 3rds, Milnthorpe 2nds, Burneside 3rds, Barrow 3rds, and Coniston 2nds.
There was a maiden hundred for Jakob Smith of Kirkby Lonsdale, who made 119 from 116 balls with 13 fours and 6 sixes.
Fifties were scored by Henry Coke (65 not out), Cameron Penn (62), Jon Bushell (60), David Sloan (53), Elliott Riley (52 not out), and David Brackwell (50).
The bowling honours went to Steven Booker (5/34), Ollie Higgs (5/53), Louis Davy (4/22), Elliot Hennaing (4/28), and Calum Chaplow (4/33).
All-round performances included Thomas Marsden (37 & 3/18).
