5 cricket clubs around Barrow that accept new players

Summer is on its way once again and that means its time for South Cumbria’s cricketers to dust off the whites and get ready for the new season.

The professional season starts this weekend but club cricket kicks off its season two weeks later on April 18.

There’s a selection of cricket clubs in Barrow and South Cumbria who will be open to new members ahead of the season’s start and The Mail has found five where you’ll be able to play this season.

Barrow Cricket Club

There are many teams at Barrow Cricket Club, covering both genders and all ages.

There are three senior men’s cricket teams, as well as a women’s and girls one.

There are also children’s teams too, with the youngest team an under 11’s side and there are also opportunities for those with disabilities.

Adults can become a playing club member for £55, while juniors are £15 and there’s also a family membership for £65.

Furness Cricket Club

Furness Cricket Club have six teams across a variety of age groups.

There are four senior teams: first XI, second XI, B Team and the academy.

There are also two junior teams in the form of the under 11’s and under 13’s.

Dalton Cricket Club

Dalton play their cricket in the North Lancashire and Cumbria Cricket League.

They have four senior men’s teams as well as a senior women’s side.

They also have several junior teams, with them starting at under 11’s and going up to under 16’s.

Ulverston Cricket Club

Ulverston have three adult teams playing in The Cumbria Cricket, Westmorland and mid-week T20 leagues.

While they have junior who teams play in the Barrow & Furness District League.

New members are always welcome at Ulverston, with adult fees set at £30 and junior fees £20, while a family membership can also be purchased for £50.

Vickerstown Cricker Club

Situated on the north of Walney, Vickerstown CC are also open to new members ahead of the season.

The club have several teams and wannabe cricketers can join by getting in touch with them on Facebook.
