NOTTS County head coach Stuart Maynard has said that his side face a 'very tough game' against Pete Wild's Bluebirds.

Maynard will be at the helm for the first time for the Magpies when Barrow make the trip to Meadow Lane, just over a week after he was announced as their new head coach following the departure of Luke Williams to Championship side Swansea City.

Maynard was supposed to manage his first Notts County match last week, however, weather conditions forced the Magpies' tussle with Stockport County to be postponed.

Speaking on the club's official website, he said: "We're really excited as a management team. It's obviously a big game. Our first game at home and we are glad that it is at home and it is going to be a really tough test.

"They are going really well in the league and Pete Wild, we know a lot about him from his days at Halifax so we know it is going to be a very tough game but we are looking forward to it."

Maynard also discussed the threats that Wild's Bluebirds will pose his Notts County on his first match in the Meadow Lane dugout.

He said: "They've got players that want to get in the box from midfield which is always a threat, that late runner from midfield.

"They have got Elliot Newby out a wing-back who is a winger which is similar to ourselves who play wngers at wing-back which is a threat.

"They have got good threats from everywhere and their defensive structure is really good behind the ball and they tend to counter on you.
