BARROW AFC have announced that Niall Canavan, Paul Farman, and Elliot Newby have all had their contracts extended until the end of the 2024/25 season.

These extensions to three of the Bluebirds' key players come due to appearance-based clauses in their respective deals being activated.

Farman is Barrow's second longest-serving player in the current squad having joined in the summer of 2021 and since his arrival, the 34-year-old has kept 41 clean sheets in just 128 matches.

Speaking about the extension of his contract on the club's website, he said: "I’m obviously buzzing to trigger my deal by playing so many games over the few years I’ve been here.

"It’s got better and better every year and when the Gaffer and Temps [Adam Temple] came in they promised the club would keep getting better, and since they’ve come in we’ve come on leaps and bounds as a club, as a community and as a team."

Club captain Niall Canavan, who played every available league minute last campaign also had his deal extended after initially joining the Bluebirds on transfer deadline day in January 2022.

He had since made over 100 appearances in Barrow's blue and white.

He said: "I’m really happy, I obviously knew at the start of the season that it was something that was available for me, so I’ve been really keen to get that done and I’m extremely happy to be a part of what we’re building here."

Finally, local boy Elliot Newby, who returned to his hometown club last January, added: "It feels great, I’ve obviously really enjoyed my time since coming here and this season has especially been really good and a really enjoyable season so I’m really happy.

"As a fan myself seeing attendances increase and seeing all the new fans coming to games to support us has been fantastic and there’s a really big feel-good factor around the club right now and I’m buzzing to continue my journey here."
