PETE Wild has said that he is 'really pleased' with Cole Stockton's start to life at Barrow AFC and hinted at his involvement in the Bluebirds away-day at Notts County.

The 29-year-old forward joined the Bluebirds on loan from League One side Burton Albion last week and was handed his Holker Street debut by Wild in the second half of the Bluebirds' 3-1 defeat by Lee Bell's Crewe Alexandra.

Whilst the result on the pitch did not constitute the introduction to life in South Cumbria that supporters may have been hoping for, ahead of Barrow's trip to take on Notts County and Meadow Lane, Wild expressed his delight with the forward's cameo.

He said: "I knew what he was all about before he came in but he looked sharp, he held the ball up well, he linked play really well and we are going to need more of that when we go through.

"If we can link the play and go through we have got a proven goal scorer, so I am really pleased with how that has started and hopefully we can build on it over the coming weeks.

Ahead of the visit of Crewe Alexandra Wild was adamant in the fact that Stockton would need building up before being thrown straight into the first team from the start after making just eight league appearances for his parent club after joining from Morecambe in the summer.

However, with a full week of training now under his belt, Wild hinted that the striker could come into contention for a starting place at Meadow Lane.

He said: "He comes into consideration and we will look at what the best team stroke best squad is for Notts County over the next two days."
