BARROW AFC supporters have been asked to drive the Bluebirds forward by boss Pete Wildwhen they face Crewe Alexandra this weekend

220 Barrow supporters followed their side to South London last weekend as Wild's side fought back to earn a 2-2 draw against Sutton United, however, this week they face a shorter journey to Holker Street as Lee Bell's Railwaymen come to South Cumbria.

However, in the days leading up to this clash, Holker Street has been barraged by adverse weather conditions, prompting a legion of fans and volunteers to head to the home of the Bluebirds and help put on protective frost sheets and Wild was keen to thank those who took their time to assist the club.

He said: "As I always say, the club is the hub of the community. It needs its volunteers and it needs the community to help us out to try and make sure we are the best version of us.

"I think the club have welcomed the fans and the volunteers with open arms and I think that sense of community is the biggest thing about football at this level.

Wild also spoke directly to supporters ahead of the crucial clash with Crewe Alexandra, who sit two points behind his side before kick-off.

He said: "Get yourselves down there, it will be another tough, tight game in prospect.

"We need your support and we need you to drive us forward and we need you to help us in them tough moments to get over the line."
