BARROW AFC boss Pete Wild has asserted the Bluebirds are in a 'fantastic position' ahead of their clash with Crewe Alexandra - despite a recent dip in results.

Fourth-placed Barrow welcome Lee Bell's fifth-placed Railwaymen to Holker Street in the latest League Two action in South Cumbria with the Bluebirds looking to recapture the form that propelled them into the promotion and play-off pictures.

Wild's side have drawn three of their last with their victory against Tranmere Rovers and defeat against Wrexham on New Year's Day splitting these results.

This is a slight drop-off in the Bluebirds form before Christmas which saw them go on a 12-match unbeaten streak between October and December that also included a run of seven consecutive victories.

Despite this perceived dip, Barrow are just 13 points adrift of their 22/23 final total with 19 games left to play and looking to solidify their elevated league position even further with a result against Crewe this weekend.

"We are in a fantastic position, you won't win every week, it won't always go your way," Wild said.

"You look at Sutton on Saturday. For 75 per cent of the game it does not go our way, that is football, and that is why it is such a good sport.

"We are right on target for our points to the month, whether they are draws or wins it doesn't matter, every point matters and we are just looking forward to another opportunity on Saturday to pick up points.

"December and January are notoriously difficult to pick up points. I don't look a league tables but if you look at how many points we have got on the board and what points teams have achieved in previous years, I think we are bang on track."
