BARROW AFC new boy Cole Stockton will be 'in and around' the Bluebirds' squad that welcomes Crewe Alexandra to Holker Street this weekend.

Barrow announced the loan signing of the 29-year-old forward from League One side Burton Albion on Wednesday afternoon - and Stockton could be handed his Bluebirds debut against Lee Bell's Railwaymen.

However Stockton's last involvement for his parent club came when the Brewers were defeated 1-0 by Bolton Wanderers on New Year's Day and Wild admitted that the striker will need to be built back up to full fitness before he can become a regular at his new club.

He said: "He was cleared off by the medical team at Burton on Tuesday so he will need building back up.

"He will be in and around the squad but we will watch him today [Thursday] in training and see what part he plays on Saturday."

Regardless of the potential involvement of Barrow's new talisman against Bell's Railwaymen, Wild was adamant that the signing shows the 'pull' that the club has.

He said: "It shows the weight that the club has got, it shows the distance of travel that the club has got and it shows that people are talking about us.

"People talk about us and how we do things in a good light and it shows the pull that we have as a football club and staff that we can attract players to come play for us which is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved."
