HOME may be where the heart is, but Barrow AFC boss Pete Wild wants his side to keep piling up the away-day bonuses.

Today’s trip to face Sutton United will be the Bluebirds’ 15th league game on the road so far this season.

Wild’s men have picked up 24 points on their travels – only Mansfield have picked up more away points in the division.

The Barrow manager will begin a two-match ban today after admitting to an FA charge.

But he will still be expecting his side to deliver at the VBS Community Stadium.

Speaking ahead of today’s clash, Wild set out the importance of delivering on the road.

He said: “This our 15th away game and we are only in the middle of January.

“Today’s game is another long trip for everybody, but again it’s another one chalked off, and another chance for us to hit our monthly target.

“We’ve been great on the road this season and I don’t expect anything different today than us being really good on the road, and hopefully that allows us to pick up some more points.

“We put so much pressure on winning at home and picking up points at home, that when you do go on the road getting anything is a big help.

“We have been so good at so many away grounds this season, so the more points we can pick up on the road it takes a little bit of the pressure off us at home.

“The points you pick on the road are the bonus points you need to back up your home form.

“So the more we can do that, obviously the better it is, and that’s what we will be looking to do today.”
