BARROW AFC central midfielder Dean Campbell was delighted to bounce back to winning ways by beating Tranmere 1-0 at home on Saturday.

The 22-year-old scored the decisive goal in the 80th minute by caressing the ball into the top corner from outside the area with his left foot.

The strike was his first goal this season from open play, having previously notched two other goals from the penalty spot.

“I knew when I hit it that it was curling away from the goalkeeper,” Campbell told the Club website.

“It was just elation after that.

“We made it a thing this week that good teams do not lose two games in a row.

“Everyone had a brilliant contribution to the game. Everyone is going to have to play their part in the second half of the season and come up with the goals in big moments.”

Campbell, who signed for the club as a free agent from Aberdeen in the summer transfer window, having enjoyed loan spells at Kilmarnock and Stevenage, says he is loving his time at the club.

He added: “It’s the most I’ve enjoyed my football so far in my career. There’s a brilliant dressing room, brilliant coaching staff and I’m really relishing playing as much as I have. Hopefully my game can keep going from strength to strength.

The result ensured the Bluebirds maintained their unbeaten run at home this season and leaves Pete Wild’s side just one point off the automatic promotion places.
