BARROW AFC boss Pete Wild has been charged with 'misconduct' following the Bluebirds' score draw with Accrington Stanley.

The FA alleges that Wild's behaviour and language were 'improper' towards a match official before kick-off.

They further allege that the Barrow boss 'questioned the integrity' of a match official following the conclusion of the fixture.

An FA spokesperson said: "Barrow AFC's manager Pete Wild has been charged with misconduct following their EFL League Two game against Accrington Stanley FC on Friday, December 29 2023.

"It's alleged that his behaviour and/or language was improper and/or abusive and/or insulting towards a match official, prior to kick-off.

"It's further alleged that his language and/or behaviour towards a match official was improper and/or abusive and/or insulting and/or questioned the integrity of a match official, following the conclusion of the fixture.

The Barrow boss has until Monday, January 8, to provide a response to the allegations.

Wild's side took on John Coleman's 'Owd Reds in their final game of 2023 at Holker Street and were forced to settle for a draw after Ben Whitfield's 52nd-minute opener was cancelled out by a 71st-minute strike from Joe Pritchard.

After the contest, the Bluebirds boss made no secret of his disdain for a number of the referee's decisions during the clash.

He said: "All those things considered, it was a tough football match for both teams and a fair result in the end.

“You still look back on it and think if decisions are given that should be given.

“It’s very clear and obvious and yet again for the second game in a row we don’t have the standard of officiating the fans and the football club deserve.

"But unfortunately, a stonewall penalty again. Unfortunately, decisions made by the officials were questionable, to say the least."
