BARROW AFC may be flying high in League Two, but manager Pete Wild is not about to get carried away.

No one is more delighted than Wild that the Bluebirds are currently in third place in the table.

They are there on merit and Wild admits that it has been great to see their efforts rewarded, but the early success hasn’t changed his goals.

He said: “I’d be lying if I said I thought we’d be third (at this stage of the season).

“We are working on a points per game ratio, and we are above that at the moment.

“We wanted to be in and around the top 10 and we want to try to make sure we become known as a top 10 club.

“Being where we are at the minute in terms of league position doesn’t really matter it’s more about how many points we have got on the board.”

Wild makes no secret of the points target he has in mind, and while he obviously wants to surpass that target getting there is the main thing.

And with 37 points from their 20 league games so far, the Bluebirds are well on their way.

Wild added: “Going into the Christmas and New Year period we can hopefully add to our points total and get near to the 50 points mark the quicker the better.

“We are fully focused on each game and fully focused on getting the results and the points we want.

“It is important that we go into every game with a plan and looking to be the best version of us that we can be in each game.

“We have to stay focused and take each game at time, and then it’s on to the next one, then the next one and the next one.

“We have some big games coming up and there’s only three teams now where we haven’t already seen what they are like.

“But these next few games will be interesting for us to see where we are going and where we are at.

“We have games against teams in and around the top 10, so we know we will have to be the best version of ourselves to get something from those games.”
