BARROW AFC manager Pete Wild is hoping that the Bluebirds can 'dominate' Salford City at Holker Street this weekend.

Barrow welcome Neil Wood's Ammies to South Cumbria off the back of their 2-0 win on the road against Forest Green Rovers which saw them move to within four points of the playoff berth with a game hand.

Salford City also got back to winning ways during the week with a Matt Smith hat-trick against Doncaster confirming the Ammies' fourth win in six after prior defeat and draw, and moving them to within a point of the Bluebirds before kick-off.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Wild reflected on the two 1-1 draw the sides played out last season and what Barrow can take from them into this latest encounter.

"We had two close encounters," He said.

"They are a team that wants to suck you in and play in the spaces that you leave, and a team that looks to overload you in the middle and get their quick wingers on the ball so not a long has changed for Salfrod from last year to what we expect this year.

"They have different personel but we really think this is a chance to focus on us and make sure we go out and dominate them."

Wild also detailed some of the specific threats that Salford will pose with their tricky wingers and forward line that includes the division's top scorer so far.

He said: "I am expecting a really good footballing side who try and move the ball through the thirds.

"They have got Luke Bolton on the right wing who a lot of their play goes through, and he is a very quick and very sharp winger.

"They have also certainly got a target man in Matt Smith, you look at all three goals from Tuesday night, two of them are crosses so we need to make sure we deal with Matt Smith when he is peeling in the box and the third is a striker's finish so they have obviously got a center-forward who has played a lot higher than this and we need to deal with him."
