BARROW AFC boss Pete Wild has revealed why Bluebirds midfielder Ben Whitfield was absent from his side's 2-0 midweek victory against Forest Green Rovers.
The 27-year-old did not feature in the Barrow squad which travelled to the New Lawn Stadium on Tuesday night to take on David Horseman's Green Devils.
Ahead of the Bluebirds' clash with Salford City at Holker Street, Wild revealed that this was due to the midfielder having 'sore hamstrings', with being a blow to Barrow's 22/23 top assister who has recently returned from an Achilles injury.
Speaking ahead of the visit of the Ammies, Wild confirmed that the extent of Whitfield's issue would be assessed.
"Ben Whitfield missed Tuesday with sore hamstrings so we will see how he fares in training today [Thursday.]
Wild also provided a wider update on his squad with striker Jamie Proctor nearing a return from an abductor injury that has kept him on the sidelines since the end of September.
He said: "Jamie Proctor may miss this weekend but will certainly be back next week and we have obviously got the two long-term injuries."
