Mike Jones got 90 minutes in the tank amid his return to action for Barrow AFC.

The fit-again midfielder featured in Tuesday’s Lancashire Senior Cup game at Burnley.

It was experienced Jones’ second outing since returning from a long-term achilles problem.

His appearance in the tie - a goalless draw with AFC losing 4-3 on penalties - followed his welcome return to action in last week’s Papa John’s Trophy victory over Leicester.

Another name of interest on the Barrow teamsheet, as reported by the Clarets’ website, was Leeds United’s former Carlisle United player Josh Galloway.

He is understood to be free to leave the Elland Road club, and reportedly played the full game for the Barrow XI at Burnley’s Gawthorpe Hall training ground.

He hit the bar with one of Barrow’s penalties as the Clarets, who included ex-Bluebirds loan defender Bobby Thomas, edged the tie to go into the quarter-finals.

Barrow have yet to comment on 19-year-old Galloway’s situation with the club. The young winger was a youth team player at Carlisle before being snapped up by Leeds in the summer of 2019.

But he has struggled to make the breakthrough at he Premier League club.

Bluebirds star Luke James, meanwhile, is closing in on the £2,000 mark in his ‘Movember’ charity efforts.

He is raising money for cancer charities and also to raise awareness about mental health.
