Chorley Panthers 10 Hindpool Tigers 18

HINDPOOL Tigers Under 16s started their North West Counties Division 2 campaign with a win on the road away to Chorley Panthers last Sunday.

Hindpool knew it would be a tough task with key players out injured, but still showed their dominance in defence straight from the kick-off, as they pinned Chorley down in their own half, forcing them to kick from deep.

With good passing play from Lewis Stables and Ryan Kyte alongside strong running from Ethan Buchanan and Will Mason, Hindpool worked their way up the field only for 'wrecking ball' Lennon Hartle to be held up on the try line.

But on another attack shortly after, Chorley could not keep Hartle out this time, with Kyte converting, 0-6.

On the stroke of half-time and with Chorley pressing Hindpool's try line, Kyte intercepted and took play deep back into Chorley's half.

Straight from the second half kick-off, the ball was given to Hartle to make 50 metres up the pitch, with smart passing play taking Hindpool just 10 metres out.

And no one was going to stop Hartle as he got back into position to finish what he started as he crossed the line, with Kyte converting, 0-12.

However, Chorley did not lie down and kept passing the ball and were rewarded with two tries, one of which was converted to make it a nervy final 10 minutes for the Tigers, 10-12.

But Hindpool got their second wind and with very strong running from Buchanan and Harley Bradley-Allen were able to send Buchanan through a gap and over the Chorley try line, with Kyte converting again for his third to make it 10-18 Hindpool.
