Barrow AFC midfielder Josh Kay's spectacular goal against Walsall has been crowned the club’s goal of the month.

Kay was praised by fans for his performance against the Saddlers on March 12.

His brilliant low finish into the bottom corner following Scott Quigley’s skilful flick was the overwhelming favourite a poll of fans deciding the best finish of March.

Kay was able to cut through Walsall’s defence and claim the celebrated goal.

The 24-year-old began his career at AFC Fylde’s academy programme from Squires Gate in 2015.

He made his senior debut in the FA Trophy victory against Warrington Town that same year.

He later played in the Barnsley youth squad from Fylde in 2016 and then for the League Two team Chesterfield in 2018.

Following his release from the EFL, Kay signed a two-year contract for Barrow AFC in June 2018.

Barrow AFC said: “Thanks to all who voted, and congratulations to Josh Kay.”

Other contenders included two goals from Patrick Brough against Mansfield Town, Jamie Jones against Cheltenham Town, a goal from Tom Davies and two others by Scott Quigley against Crawley Town, and Calvin Andrew against Stevenage.
