Georgia Stanway’s Manchester City side will be facing West Ham United at home this weekend.

Gareth Taylor’s players go into Sunday’s FA Women’s League clash after two successive seven-goal hauls in the league.

City defeated Aston Villa 7-0 at the Manchester City Academy Stadium, before beating Brighton and Hove Albion 7-1.

If City fail to beat West Ham on Sunday, they could drop into fourth below Arsenal, providing that Joe Montemurro’s team beat Aston Villa, whereas a win would keep City in third.

Stanway’s team have been in good form this season, winning seven out of 11 league games, losing only once.

Ahead of the game, manager Taylor confirmed that Sam Mewis, Gemma Bonner and Demi Stokes will all be unavailable this Sunday.

He said: “We've been low on numbers but the group has done really well to stick six points on the board but we are looking to draw on each player as much as we can.

“There are a few niggles and fatigue.

"The amount of effort last week with one of the games being after extra time, we understand a few will be missing but we hope they are back sooner.”

After West Ham, City will then face Arsenal, with a Manchester derby against second-placed United the following week.

Taylor added: “With 11 games we’re exactly halfway.

"We’ve had good moments and difficult moments but as this point we’re in good shape and we have it in our hands.

“It’s difficult to assess (our league opponents) with the game in hands.

"We have one on United and Chelsea do too.

"Chelsea have started strong.

“The games we’ve got coming up in the next few weeks will have a big say on what will happen with the title.

“But we've got a big game against West Ham where we need three points.”
