Barrow AFC are pleased that The Bluebirds fans could be set to return to Holker Street next month.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced this week that spectators will be allowed to attending outside sporting events after the current lockdown finishes.

This announcement has delighted the Barrow AFC hierarchy.

A club statement said: “Barrow AFC welcomes the news that fans will be allowed to return to sporting events and we look forward to the day that Bluebirds supporters can once again join us at The Progression Solicitors Stadium.

“We have been working hard behind the scenes during recent months to ensure that we are as prepared as possible for the safe return of spectators and we now await confirmation as to which tier Barrow-in-Furness will fall in to.”

The UK’s second national lockdown ends on December 2.

Therefore, Barrow fans could be present for Salford City’s visit to Holker Street on Saturday December 5.

Depending on which tier the Barrow area is placed in will determine how many Barrow fans can enter Holker Street.

Tier 1 areas will be allowed 4,000 spectators in grounds.

2,000 fans will be permitted to enter stadiums in Tier 2 regions.

Games will continue to be played behind closed doors in regions under Tier restrictions.
