Barrow AFC midfielder Mike Jones insists he won’t be going back to his former club with a point to prove this weekend.

Jones will tomorrow face Carlisle United, where he spent the last four seasons before this summer’s move to Holker Street.

The experienced midfielder is fresh from last weekend’s stunning equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Colchester.

And as he prepares to face the club for whom he made more than 150 appearances, 33-year-old Jones said: “I go into every game the same.

"Doesn’t matter who you’re playing. As soon as you put the shirt on you want to keep the shirt and put on a good performance for the fans and the club.

“Whether it’s Carlisle, or Newport, or whoever, I won’t have any extra percentage or anything like that. It’s just another game and one I’ll be going at to put in as good a performance as I can.”

“If I manage to score again it would be unfortunate for Carlisle but I’d be buzzing because it would be for Barrow, and hopefully towards us winning the game.”
