Back row Dan Toal has penned a contract extension at Craven Park in the same week that brother Shane committed his future to Barrow Raiders.

The long serving player, who has played over 170 times for the Raiders and has scored over 50 tries, has signed a contract extension for another season.

With both brothers committing to the squad for next season, it means that the Raiders will have two sets of brothers on the books for next season, along with Adam and Jordan Walne.

The signing of Toal is another piece of the jigsaw complete for Director of Rugby Andy Gaffney, who has been impressed by how the back row has kept himself fit during a difficult few months.

He said: "To get Dan and Shane signed in the same week is brilliant for us, they're great lads both on and off the pitch, and it is great we have been able to keep both brothers.

"Dan is a hard player, he has done great for us over the years and it is another signing down for us now.

"I was impressed by how he has kept himself in top shape, despite what as been a difficult few months for all the players.

"It is difficult, with not being able to get back on the training pitch but the players have done really well in keeping themselves fit right throughout the lockdown period.

"Hopefully they'll be back and training together before long and the preparation can begin."
