PLAYMAKER Jamie Dallimore has signed a new two year deal at Craven Park - despite receiving big offers from Championship sides.

Half back Dallimore has been with the Barrow Raiders since 2016 and has become a key figure in the side in recent years.

He signed a one year deal in 2019, and despite solid interest from a number of Championship clubs, the half back has decided to remain at Craven Park for another two years.

Director of Rugby Andy Gaffney is delighted to have re-signed a player who he labelled ‘the best kicker in the division’.

He said: “This is another big one to get over the line.

“We have to act fast because a number of Championship came in for him with good offers, so we moved quickly and we’re pleased to get it done.

“He is a goal kicking master and for me he is probably the best kicker in the division, so we’re delighted to have him again for another two years.

“Hopefully that will see him playing for us in the Championship if we earn promotion.”

Gaffney is still looking to bring in more new faces, and has his eye on players of the same calibre as Shaun Lunt, who was brought in earlier in the summer.

He said: “Shaun has brought a buzz to the place and it has been great. We’re looking at more new faces and we are looking to bring in players of a similar calibre to Shaun.”
