Phil Read
JUST learned that former world motorcycling champion Phil Read has been diagnosed with prostrate cancer and started his treatment last week in a Canterbury hospital.
In the late 60s and early 70s many older readers will recall the many titanic battles he had with the late Mike Hailwood and Bill Ivy.
Never one for mincing his words and still isn't to this day. Until recently, the sprightly 80 year old could still be seen out on the circuits doing demonstration laps and attending motorcycle shows.
