Boxer Dev Mulholland made an impressive winning start in Barrow ABC colours, as he recovered from a standing count to defeat L Trainor.
The 22-year-old came back from that sticky moment at Carlisle Masonic’s show at the Shepherds and Auctioneer.
Fighting in the Brook Street black and gold for the first time, Mulholland produced a non-stop final round to swing the bout his way against a more experienced Ambleside & Windermere opponent.
“It was a real crowd pleaser,” Barrow ABC head coach Jeff Moses said of the bout. “Dev’s got a good engine and he was on him constantly in the last round.”
Jordan Dix was also victorious, as he boxed superbly and forced a standing count against J Richardson of Blackrod on his way to a unanimous verdict.
Although the other Barrow ABC boxers in action - Oliver Dilks, Will Hinde and Phil Cubin - didn’t triumph, Moses was more than happy with their performances.
He said: “Oliver fought a more experienced lad and he only just lost. We put him in there because we think he can box at a higher level and it was a great performance.
“Will also boxed well and it was a good battle. He lost a majority verdict but hopefully we’ll have a return bout at the Barrow ABC show.
“Phil also got beat by a more experienced opponent on a split decision, but he boxed really well.”
